the independent variable is whatever object you can control and alter and the dependent variable is the variable which reacts to that one. you didn’t include a description for your experiment but for example, when brushing your teeth the independent variable is the toothpaste and the dependent variable is how much foam stuff will appear when brushing. let me know if that makes sense
