The motion of an object which has balanced forces acting upon it is zero. Imagine holding an apple in your hand. The heaviness of the apple is the force of gravity on the apple while you are holding it up. The apple appears to be still, but the force of gravity is greater, giving the apple weight.
Hope it helps,
Ahawk
