Learning the basics of another language in school is required to graduate. Learning a new language can provide you different job opportunities - believe it or not.

so  you  learn   something  but  you  get  tough  so  you   can  be  bilingual and  people  pay  for  people that  can talk English  and Spanish  so its  a  advantage  they are  giving  to  you
