and

Since both of the x terms are equal to y we can equate the x terms:-

-2x^2 = x - 2

2x^2 + x - 2 = 0

x = [-1 +/- √(1^2 - 4*2*-2) ] / 4

= ( - 1 +/- √(17)) / 4

= 0.781, -1.281.

When x = 0.781  y = 0.781 - 2 = -1.219.

when x = -1.281 , y = -1.281 - 2= -3.281.
