(23+3x)+(8x–41)=15

Start by combining like terms on the left side of the equal sign:

3x+8x=11x

23-41=-18


Now the equation reads:

11x-18=15


It can be solved like any other two-step equation:

*Add 18 to both sides*

11x=33

*Divide both sides by 11*

x=3
