You have to find a common denominator, so you would multiply 3 from the 1/3 by 4 which gets you twelve. And bc you multiplied the 3 you have to multiple the 1 so 1/3 would be 4/12. You would then multiply 4 by 3 and get 12. Then do the same to the one on top. So 1/4 would be 3/12. You then add 3 and 4 and get 7. That’s the numerator, the denominator stays 12. So it would be 7/12
